re-activating as an alumni [21 Feb 2012|11:15am]

Hi all,

First off I see that this community has had 0 posts since July 2009 so hopefully someone still reads. I guess we will see.

I was a Phi Mu for a time when I was in college but deactivated due to financial and political reasons. However many of the girls still remained my close friends. I have been out of college almost 5 years now and I still keep in touch with a few of them really regularly and we visit each other and all kinds of stuff.

What I wanted to know, was if I contact nationals, would it be possible to re-instate my membership, but as an alum? I'm now in the position where I can pay the dues I owed nationals when I deactivated.

I feel like I'd be getting back a piece of myself if I was able to do this, plus then if I ever wanted to help nearby chapters to where I live with recruitment or advising or whatever, I'd be able to.

Thanks for any info you might have.

Chants? [28 Jul 2009|11:02pm]

Hi I was wondering if anyone had any chants that they do during recruitment. My Chapter ( Lambda Delta) is a bit short on Originality and it would be dreadfully to sing only 5 different chants and cheers for recruitment. So if anyone has any new ones or ones that they have adjusted plz tell me.

thanks LIOB!

Hey everybody!

I was just wondering what all of you girls usually do with alum on your founders day, if anything. We're trying to start something up this year to get more alumni backing. We do a brunch in the fall for homecoming, so I was trying to think of something else to do. What are your ideas??? Thanks!

Nike+ Panhellenic Challenge [29 Nov 2008|01:55pm]

Hey everyone!

For those of you who use the Nike+ running kit, I recommend that you join the 2009 Panhellenic challenge and represent your organization next year in a competition to run the most miles! So far only Phi Mu, ADPi, and Alpha Phi are represented!

Of course, I'd LOVE to see Phi Mu #1! So far we have two runners, and it'd be great if we could recruit some more!

To find the challenge, click HERE!

If you don't have Nike+... consider adding it to your Christmas list. It is a lot of fun and will turn almost anyone on to running (my own mom now runs 5k daily because of it!)

Just thought I'd pass the info along... happy running, sisters!!

phi mu tumblelog [04 Sep 2008|03:55pm]

I've recently created a Phi Mu tumblelog at http://phimu.tumblr.com and thought it might be of some help to some of you. It includes the standard information about Phi Mu, but most of the posts are links to Phi Mu-themed gifts (pink, lions, ladybugs, etc.) that you might be interested in while shopping for your little or a Phi Mu friend.

Let me know what you think! ♥

intro + party ideas [03 Sep 2008|10:57am]

Hi all! I'm Laurel and I'm an Alpha Gamma alum (Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama). I was treasurer and Step Sing director and was on the PR and recruitment committees, or in other words, overcommitted. :) I loved every minute of it!

I graduated last year and work as a computer programmer, but in my spare time I like to reminisce about my days as a Phi Mu. ;)

Thought I'd post a couple of pictures and ideas for parties that might inspire some of you.

party!Collapse )

I have a few more that I'll try to round up at some point. Please let me know if you want more details on any of these!

♥ Laurel

Recruitment Help [22 Jun 2008|06:59pm]

Hello ladies! I am working on recruitment for the fall, and I am trying to plan a craft to do on our philanthropy day. Last year we made IV bag covers made out of felt that had a lion on them. They were really cute! Does anybody have any other ideas that I could use for a craft?

[06 Apr 2008|09:08pm]

I was wondering, you know how all the fraternities have songs that they sing to the sororities on special occasions? At my school the pi kapps sing "the rose" which is really sweet and we always sing a silly song back. However, I think it would be nice to have a sweet sort of serenade like song as well, does anyone know of any?

Raising money for CMN... [08 Jan 2008|10:15am]

Hi Ladies!!!  I'm the philanthrophy officer for the Louisville Area Alum Chapter and recently heard about charitydemin.com.  have any of your chapters worked with them?  What was the event like?  I think it sounds like a great idea but wanted to know what people who had worked with them before thought.

Recruitment Ideas [30 Dec 2007|06:01pm]

Hello there all of my Phi Mu ladies! I hope the holidays are going well for everybody! I was elected to the position of Membership Direct, and have to plan COR for my chapter. I was wondering if any of you had some good ideas for events. We have 11 sororities on campus, so recruitment is a little competitive i guess u could say. I am working hard to create a recruitment that makes us stand out!

Thanks ahead of time!

icons! [17 Dec 2007|02:40am]

[ mood | cheerful ]

Hey all,

Greetings from Rho Epsilon (Albion College) chapter! We only got two Phis this fall, but they are both exceptional ladies! We're looking forward to Formal Recruitment this February. We made quota last year and we're hoping to repeat that this year. :)

I made some Phi Mu icons that are free to use. All I ask is that you give me appropriate credit and comment to let me know you're using them.

Lion hugs!

Ally Norris, Rho Epsilon.

recruitment decorations! [12 Sep 2007|04:23pm]

Hey ladies! I just joined this community and I've got a question for you all.

Delta Iota chapter (Baldwin-Wallace College) is gearing up for formal recruitment next week! (Wooooo! We're all excited. Stressed, but excited.) This Saturday, I am meeting up with a couple sisters to make door decorations for the new girls we'll be getting in a week. Does anyone have any cute ideas?

Wish us luck with recruitment! We say goodbye to our Rho Gamma girls tonight... I'll be sure to post again on Bid Day!

Hi everyone! I just found this on livejournal and I was pretty excited. I'm a new (initiated March 30 this year!!) Phi Mu from the Gamma Zeta chapter at High Point University, where we had 13 girls rush (and fill quota!). Anyway, I just wanted to say hello!

another question [07 Mar 2007|09:45pm]

as you guessed i am a recent alum....so I have another question because again no one really seems to know the answer. Does your chapter allow alum to come to formal or semi-formal? One of my sisters wants to take me as a date but some people are saying i can't go and some are saying I can....
