intro + party ideas

Hi all! I'm Laurel and I'm an Alpha Gamma alum (Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama). I was treasurer and Step Sing director and was on the PR and recruitment committees, or in other words, overcommitted. :) I loved every minute of it!

I graduated last year and work as a computer programmer, but in my spare time I like to reminisce about my days as a Phi Mu. ;)

Thought I'd post a couple of pictures and ideas for parties that might inspire some of you.

Wow, I wish my chapter had the money and the commitment to do some of these things! They look like so much fun!

My chapter stayed in the 130-150 range, so that helps a TON. :) We were very fortunate to have so many people who wanted to be involved.

Wooow that's awesome! We have...maybe 20 people right now, and our house can only hold 39. Lol.

Still, 20 people who care could do a lot of these things! :) It's pretty simple to throw together an 80s costume, and you could always have a small party in your house.

So with 20 people is almost everyone in a leadership position? How does that work?

Yeah, everyone has some office or another, but there are only about five women on exec right now. I used to be on it, but nationals came to help us with recruitment (we haven't been recruiting very well for a few years now) and told us that with the house being so small, we needed a smaller exec. So they took our Academic office off exec. Which is ok; it opens up my Wednesday nights. :-P

I graduated in 04, and have been on advisory council since 06. Our chapter went from 30 to 5!! We are now about 26ish, and our goal is to make it to 30!

So...big parties and mixers and nearly non existent, and during rush, we are 'selling' the bond of sisterhood.

It looks like fun to be in a BIG chapter :)
